Meet Gertie - And the real girl that inspired her

When I first sat down to write this book, I didn’t plan on creating a ten-part series. I simply wanted to tell a story- one that had lived quietly in my heart for years. A story my grandmother once shared with me about her childhood in a small village in England, her bravery, her questions, and her faith.

That story became Gertrude the Fiery Redhead: Being Different. Gertie is not just a character- she’s a blend of imagination and memory, of history and heart. She represents every child who has ever wondered where they truly belong, every child who has asked questions that didn’t have easy answers.

In Being Different, you will walk beside her as she begins a life changing journey- one filled with family secrets, courage, and deep faith. It’s the first step in a much bigger adventure.

This blog will be a place where I share more of the behind-the scenes stories: my grandmother’s real life journey across continents, historical fun facts about about Edwardian England, and tools for parents and educators to bring Gertie’s world into their homes and classrooms.
